| Description: The deceased was carrying out an accuracy training jump for a forthcoming competition from 1000 metres. It would appear that the hand-deploy pilot chute go caught under the harness (most likely leg-strap mounted with a twist in it) and spent too long trying to free it before deploying his reserve. | ||||||||
| Lessons:One does not have very long to deal with a high-speed malfunction when jumping from 1000 m. Try one, try twice, then carry out your emergency procedures. An AAD would likely have prevented this fatality but in this country they are not very common due to their relative expense. | ||||||||
